In truth, Fiona believes that creativity can be sparked by anything, yet she’s continually drawn back to the land, the sea, and the sky —those vast, eternal forms and patterns.
She is fascinated by how we map the landscape, not just to capture its physical contours, but to unravel the many layers of stories that lie beneath the surface.
Glass, in a way, found her. Fiona’s academic study had been so stultifying, that when she finally completed, she sought creative refuge in a kiln-formed glass course. It sparked a life-long passion.
Now, at a time when life's rhythms have shifted, Fiona is able to bring her glass practice from the periphery into the light, sharing it with a wider audience.
Fiona attributes the breadth of her portfolio to the generosity of the exceptionally talented glass masters from whom she has been fortunate to learn over the years, including;
Kirstie Rea (workshops & mentorship) Silvia Levenson (Italy) Catharine Newell (USA)
Miriam Di Fiore (Italy) Lisa Cahill (Australia) Rudi Gritsch (Austria)
Steve Klein (USA) Anne Petters (Berlin Glassworks) Mark Eliott (Australia)
Monash University hot shop (glass blowing)
A special thank you to Brenda Page & Blue Dog Glass studio for; providing a supportive space to practice, facilitating so much of my learning and fostering a community of makers in glass.
